Description
Accelerating Economic Recovery: The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act
Join the Chamber as we welcome our U.S. Congressman Adam Smith for a keynote on how this historic bipartisan legislation came together to expand economic opportunity for workers across the country. Congressman Smith will address the important work of repairing our transportation systems, securing clean drinking water for all, and delivering reliable high-speed broadband, all while creating good-paying jobs. The keynote will highlight how the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will help workers and accelerate our economic recovery:
- Add, on average, about 2 million jobs per year for the next decade, accelerating America?s path to full employment while bringing workers who have been left behind into the labor force.
- Create good-paying, union jobs in the clean energy industry as we expand our use of solar, wind, and electric vehicles, and transform our electric grid for renewable energy.
- Revitalize the domestic industrial base by ensuring that all taxpayer-funded infrastructure projects are built with American iron, steel, manufactured products, and construction materials.
Congressman Smith is also a champion of building a stronger transportation infrastructure, supporting social programs that help struggling families, and defending the civil rights of every American. As a senior member of Democratic Leadership in the House, Congressman Smith also serves as Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, where he is a strong advocate for our military personnel and their families.
