Childcare is a Workforce Issue
Childcare is a Workforce Issue
Our July Membership Meeting takes a look at the impact of childcare on business with a keynote from Amy K. Anderson, director of government affairs for education, workforce development, health care and federal issues, Association of Washington Business.
The Federal Way Chamber recognizes that childcare is a critical workforce issue as well as a growth opportunity for this industry in our area.
According to the Child Care Industry Assessment Report released by the WA Department of Commerce, “nearly one in five (18.3%) of parents surveyed turned down a job offer or promotion due to child care issues, more often among Black and Native American parents. Nearly half (47%) of unemployed parents found child care issues a barrier to seeking employment—51% among female job-seekers compared to 41% among male job-seekers.”
