Description
Hallyu - the Korean wave of film and k-pop is sweeping America. Netflix is investing $700 million USD in Korean content. And Oh my, my, my-- the global reach of BTS ranked them 43rd in the Forbes Celebrity 100 (2019). Join us for our May meeting as we explore the world of K-drama and K-pop with Seattle Radio Korea anchor Kathy Kim-Yi.
Kathy Kim-Yi is an anchor/reporter who works at Seattle Radio Korea. As a bilingual Korean-American journalist, she is responsible for doing news segments and other programming in both English and Korean.
Seattle Radio Korea is a web and app-based radio station in Washington that broadcasts to 5 states, including Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho, and Montana. She also holds a position as the Director of Community Outreach, in which she hopes to fulfill her role by bridging the gap between the mainstream society and the Korean-American community in greater Washington.
Kathy graduated from Pace University, New York with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. She grew up in New York and her broadcast journalism and community outreach career mostly took place in the NY/NJ region until she relocated to western Washington 2008.
