Advancing Leadership Class of 2019 Graduates, Class of 2020 Open for Applicants
Join Advancing Leadership in celebrating the graduation of our 2019 ALA class! This dynamic group of leaders represented 17 businesses and 10 cities throughout King and Pierce County and completed two team projects for organizations in our community: The YES! (Youth Employment Service) Network and the Federal Way Day Center.
Meeting monthly from September - May, the ALA 2019 class learned how to apply individual strengths to leadership work, addressed current issues in regional and local sectors including government, education, social services, economic development and diversity and equity, networked with key local and regional leaders and applied their training to their chosen projects.
The YES! Network team partnered with the Federal Way School District and the local business community to organize and put on a series of training sessions and a job fair helping students with barriers to employment find summer jobs and learn valuable professional skills including interviewing, resume preparation, workplace etiquette, customer service and more.
The Federal Way Day Center team worked with the Federal Way Day Center (a local organization partnering with Catholic Community Services to address homelessness) to build their new website, launch Friends of the Federal Way Day Center and build support and awareness of Day Center services with a Battle of the Bands at the Federal Way Farmers Market.
